About St Martin Ocean Sport Holidays

Saint Martin is a lovely little island of luscious rolling hills, beautiful beaches and warm seas situated on the boarders of the Greater and Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean Sea. Being just 95 km² it is the smallest land in the world to be shared by 2 different nations – and harmoniously for nearly 350 years. The Dutch Saint Maarten (St Martin) occupies around one third of the island and is dominated by duty-free shopping, casinos and cruise ship tourism. The French Saint Martin, where our centre and hotels are, has an emphasis on nature, relaxation, elegance, luxury, pristine beaches and fine cuisine.

As well as windsurfing and kitesurfing, St Martin offers a wide choice of other activities both on and off the water. The waves are great for traditional surfing and Stand Up Surfing (SUP), with conditions suitable for beginners and advanced. The centre has it's own catamaran which will sail out to the surf spots, saving precious energy, and allowing friend and families to relax, take pictures, and get a close up view of the action. Wake boarding and waterskiing can be arranged for light wind days, along with parasailing for a real adrenaline rush. On land activities include Trekking/Hiking, Quad Biking, Horse Riding, 18 Hole Golf Course, Mountain Biking, and Parachuting.

Choose your sport for a next adventure in St Martin, Dutch Antilles!

Windsurfing in St Martin is Perfect for Learn To Windsurf Perfect for Improver with lessons Perfect for Independent with rental Perfect for Waves

St Martin is one of the best windsurf destinations in the Caribbean with top of the range windsurfing equipment for rent. If you are looking to learn to windsurf, improve your basic skills or hit some waves, St Martin has it all in one spot. Gallion Bay on the eastern coast of St. Martin, where our windsurf centre is located, is exposed to almost constant trade winds which blow side onshore from the left December to April (14-25 knots) and side onshore from the right June to September (12–20 knots). May is not a great month. From the end of June to the end of October is a cyclonic period and the place can really rock at this time! September, October and November are well known for the quality of the waves and surf but of course this is also in hurricane season so some storm weather can come.

The sailing area at Galion Bay is a 1 km wide sandy lagoon with some standing areas, protected by an outer reef about 400m from the shore. The reef offers great wave riding conditions with breaking waves between 1 and 3m all year long; really nice! The water in the lagoon is warm, flat and safe – a perfect windsurfing learning environment as well as fantastic freeride and freestyle conditions.

St. Martin is the perfect all round spot for families, kids, windsurfers, surfers, SUPers and kiters of all levels. It is very hard to find such a location that is good for so many sports and different holiday needs.
