For new divers, the warm water and calm local reefs provide a fabulous environment to start to your diving experience. For more experienced divers there is a range of walls, reefs and wrecks in El Gouna. El Gouna is also conveniently located if you to visit the world-famous ship graveyard of Abu Nuhas, and the S.S. Thistlegorm. The lack of boats in the area is a real advantage: the sites are much quieter than neighbouring Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh. El Gouna is fabulous for beginner courses, wreck divers and /or technical divers - it is a dream diving destination!

El Gouna is extremely popular with kitesurfers, especially beginners and improvers, from June to October. There are a large number of schools and hotels catering to kitesurfers in a spot that can get pretty busy during these months. That said, the kitesurf lagoon at El Gouna is tidal, meaning that at low tides it is only possible to kitesurf further our in deeper water which is not good for beginners.

El Gouna appeals to beginner and advanced windsurfers alike with a large flat-water lagoon that stretches for almost 5km and a brand new windsurf centre stocking all the latest equipment. The consistent side-shore winds, wide sandy beaches and crystal clear waters make this an ideal spot for learning to windsurf or improving your skills.
