This kitesurfing spot in Sri Lanka has amazing wind stats throughout the wind seasons. Combine that with a huge butter flat shallow kitesurfing area, fun waves, and beautiful accommodation, and you have a dream kitesurfing destination. The wind in Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka, blows constantly day and night between May and September from 20 knots, peaking at 30. The north-west monsoon season from December to March also brings wind for kiting, though not as consistently as the period between May and September. This is thanks to the thermal winds which build throughout the day and last until sunset.
Description :
Kitesurfing Lessons with a personal instructor gives you the opportunity to have a 1-on-1 interaction with your instructor to help you learn at a pace that is driven by you. The Learn To Kitesurf course aims to get you riding, while also teaching you how to read the conditions and utilise your equipment safely and correctly. You will then move on to the board lessons. What does that mean? Well it is time to get up on the board now. You will practice using the kite to generate pull and you will learn how to get the kite to pull you without the board first. The idea is to get used to how the kite behaves when asked to pull you. Once confident doing this you will learn how to put the board on your feet and after that, how to get up on the board. Most people will manage to do a few metres on the board by the end of the course.
Description :
Group kitesurf lessons are normally around 4 students per instructor, although it can be up to 6. Full equipment is included during all beginner courses. Group lessons are great value for money and lots of fun, but if you are looking for rapid progression, we recommend upgrading to private or semi-private lessons (see other courses, or please call us for advice).
Lessons are normally taken in 2 to 3 hour sessions, but depend on the local wind and sea conditions. Some centres will shorten the hours if they have less students as they will be able to cover the same course structure in a shorter time. Lessons are dependent on local conditions.
Description :
Private 1-1 kitesurf instruction is the best and fastest way to learn to kitesurf, improve, or master a specific trick or move. Lessons are normally in 1-2 hour sessions, but you can discuss this with your personal instructor.
Description :
This service will allow you to store your kitesurf equipment at the centre, and often also includes free rescue service assuming you are riding upwind level or above.
Description :
Foilboarding, kite foiling, hydrofoil kiteboarding, foil kiteboarding - you can call it many names, but it all leads to the same discipline: riding a kite with a hydrofoil board under your feet and it allows you to kite along above the surface of the water. Kitefoil is considered the next era in kitesurfing. Learn advanced maneuvers like jumps, tacks, and gybes, take an epic foil trip along the coast, or simply learn how to foil in case you have never tried it.
